This is the largest and possibly the best-preserved Portuguese bastion in Goa and was built in 1609-12, to control the entry into the river Mandovi and to protect Old Goa from potential enemy attacks.
Our Opinion : We feel this is a “must see!” place. The fort is relatively large and has a majestic view of Arabian sea on one side and Panaji city/ Dona Paula / Mandovi river on adjacent side. The Fort also has a beautiful light house. It is just 10 mins drive from Candolim beach, so if you around this beach, you should visit the fort too !
Reis Magos Fort
Reis Magos fort, surrounded by sturdy laterite walls studded with typically Portuguese turrets, was erected in 1551 to protect the narrowest point at the mouth of the Mandovi estuary. Situated across the Mandovi river from Panaji city, it is conviniently located on your way towards Candolim and Calngute beaches.
Our Opinion : Beautiful fort and recently renovated ! The fort is small but has breathe taking view of Mandovi river and Panaji city on other side of the river. A must see if you love Mario Miranda's paintings ! These paintings are displayed in one of the halls. You need to take slight de-tour from road connecting Panaji and North Goa beaches like Candolim/Calangute.

Our Opinion : Enjoy the magnificent view of Arabian sea from the this fort ! The fort , though small, has been recently renovated and has beautiful views all around. Terekhol fort is quite far from Panaji city. So traveling remote places is a concern for you, you may want to skip this.
